Big Breaking News: 2 New Immigration Pathways Are Open for Hong Kong Youths

Canada has introduced 2 new pathways for Hong Kong residents to get permanent residence here. New immigration measures are taken to support Hong Kong residents who are recent graduates or already in the country on a working visa.
 
Obtaining permanent Canadian residency is easy for Hong Kong residents, particularly for those who are young fresh graduates from Canada or on a temporary work permit to gain employment experience. As another relief, Canadian immigration has announced immediate measures to help Hong Kong residents in immigrating to Canada. Newly announced pathways are open for those Hong Kong residents who are already in Canada with valid temporary residency. Marco Mendicino, Immigration Minister, Canada says, “Canada is offering two new paths to permanent residency for Hong Kong residents who work and/or are recent graduates already living in the country.” 
A Historic Decision
The announcement of these pathways is a historic decision as it will give an opportunity to Hong Konger fresh graduates and young talent to stay in Canada and of course in the future, they will contribute to strengthening Canada’s economy. After the change in the National Security Law in Hong Kong and violations of Human Rights, the Canadian Government has come up with several initiatives to offer support for Hong Kong Citizens. 
Who Can Apply?
All the Hong Kong youths (students, visitors, and workers) who have temporary residency in Canada can apply all the way through these two new pathways for permanent residency. The applicants need to meet to the some specific educational and language requirements when fulfilling their applications.


Eligibility Criteria:
Eligibility criteria to apply for the permanent residency under Stream A includes;

  • Applicants should have a post-secondary credential from the Canadian institute. 
  • Must have completed the half-study program in Canada.
  • Graduate or post-graduate credentials must be of 1 year. 
  • Eligibility criteria to apply for the permanent residency under Stream B includes;
  • Applicants must have 1 year of full-time work experience or 1,560 hours of part-time working within the last three years. 
  • They must have completed post-secondary credentials within the last five years.
