The family member must live in Alberta, be age 18+ and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. In-laws do not qualify.
For new Worker EOIs, the current family category is limited to a parent, child or sibling. The broader relatives rule applies only to certain EOIs submitted on or before January 29, 2025.

Maximum 31Alberta Job Offer & Economic Factors
Points require an Alberta job offer in the regulated occupation and recognized certification/licensure. Regulated trades require a valid Alberta Qualification Certificate or a trade certificate recognized by Alberta AIT.
AAIP also collects information such as immigration status, Express Entry profile information, NOC and employer NAICS. These factors are used for selection purposes but are not awarded points under the current Worker EOI points grid.
