Canada Student visa process
Studying in Canada remains one of the most promising pathways for international students aiming to build a global career. At Sia Immigration, we make your entire journey - from admission to arrival - simple, compliant, and stress-free.
Step-by-Step Canada Study Visa Process
Step 1: Explore Your Study Options
Choose your preferred province and explore programs eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Ensure the institution is a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) with an eligible program (check IRCC's updated PGWP list for July 2025).
Step 2: Register with Sia Immigration
Our experienced consultants will evaluate your profile, recommend PGWP-eligible programs, and guide you in choosing the best-fit institutions aligned with your long-term career goals.
Step 3: Apply for Admission
We help you compile a complete and competitive application package: transcripts, English language test scores (IELTS, PTE, TOEFL), Statement of Purpose (SOP), and recommendation letters.
Step 4: Complete Medical Examinations
Book your Immigration Medical Exam (IME) with an IRCC-approved panel physician before visa application.
Step 5: Organize Financial Documents
Show proof of sufficient funds, including a 20,635 CAD Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) and tuition fee payment capability for at least one year. The new update on funds is proposed to happen from 1st September 2025 which will be 22,895 CAD for one applicant.
Step 6: Pay Tuition Fees
Pay the full tuition for your first year to receive the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from your DLI.
Step 7: Submit Your Visa Application
We support you in applying under the Student Direct Stream (SDS) or the regular stream. SDS offers faster processing for eligible applicants from select countries, although IRCC has officially abolished this stream. However, the process template persists.
Step 8: Receive Visa Decision
Monitor your application. SDS processing times are typically within 5 to 12 weeks, but timelines can vary based on biometrics and documentation.
Step 9: Pre-Departure and Travel Services
From flight bookings to pre-departure briefings and airport pickups - we ensure a smooth transition to your life in Canada.
