Choose the resource that matches the concern

Three different options. Three different purposes.

Resource 01 • Time-sensitive response

Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL) & Misrepresentation Response

IRCC has raised concerns before making a final decision.

A focused response may explain the facts, correct misunderstandings and provide evidence addressing the officer's exact concerns. The deadline and submission instructions in the letter are important.

Resource 02 • Temporary permission

Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) & Inadmissibility to Canada

A person is inadmissible or does not meet certain immigration requirements.

A TRP may allow temporary entry or stay when there is a compelling reason and the need outweighs the risks identified by the officer. It is discretionary and does not permanently remove the underlying inadmissibility.

Resource 03 • Discretionary exemption

Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) Grounds

A regular immigration pathway may not be available.

An H&C request asks IRCC to consider personal circumstances that may justify an exemption from usual requirements. Establishment, hardship, family circumstances and the best interests of an affected child may be relevant.
