BC PNP 2026 Major Update (Priority Occupation Lists Added)

Hello everyone, big BC PNP update announced on April 23, 2026. British Columbia has made major immigration changes for 2026. The province will now focus more on workers needed urgently in key sectors.

CARE SECTOR – Priority Occupations

Health Care

Examples of occupations:

- Health Care Managers
- Specialist Doctors
- Surgeons
- Family Physicians / General Practitioners
- Dentists
- Pharmacists
- Psychologists
- Physiotherapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Registered Nurses
- Registered Psychiatric Nurses
- Nurse Practitioners
- Licensed Practical Nurses
- Paramedics
- Respiratory Therapists
- Medical Laboratory Technologists
- Medical Radiation Technologists
- Medical Sonographers
- Medical Laboratory Assistants

Important Notes

For targeted invitations:

- French-speaking teachers in BC public K-12 schools may need CLB 5 or higher in French.
- Early Childhood Educators may need valid ECE certification.
- Some Care Aide occupations may require registration in B.C.

Temporary Special Pathway

In June 2026, BC plans a one-time pathway for up to 250 cleaning and security workers already working for health authorities in rural or remote communities.

Student Stream Update

Earlier, BC had plans for new student streams, but BC PNP has now confirmed:

No new student streams will be launched.

Students should now focus on existing BC PNP pathways, Express Entry, or other provincial programs.

Other Changes

- ELSS stream officially closed
- Tech draws ended, but tech jobs remain eligible through targeted invitations

Final Message

BC PNP is now more selective and priority-based. Best chances may be for healthcare, childcare, trades, French-speaking teachers, and strong skilled workers.
