BC PNP Launches Temporary Immigration Opportunity for Certain Health Authority Workers in Rural and Remote Communities

BC PNP Launches Temporary Immigration Opportunity for Certain Health Authority Workers in Rural and

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has announced a new temporary immigration initiative aimed at supporting healthcare services in rural and remote communities across the province.

This initiative is specifically designed for workers employed in certain cleaning and security occupations by BC Health Authorities. The program provides an opportunity for eligible workers to pursue permanent residency through the BC PNP, subject to meeting all program requirements.

The eligible occupations under this initiative include:

* Security Guards and Related Security Service Occupations
* Light Duty Cleaners
* Janitors, Caretakers and Heavy-Duty Cleaners

However, working in one of these occupations alone does not automatically make an individual eligible.

Applicants must be employed directly by a BC Health Authority and not through a third-party contractor. In addition, their work location must be situated in an eligible rural or remote community within British Columbia.

The initiative is generally not available to workers whose employment location is in Metro Vancouver, the Central Okanagan Regional District, or most areas within the Capital Regional District. Some island communities may still qualify, depending on the location.

Registration for this temporary initiative will open on June 15, 2026, and close on August 31, 2026.

Because eligibility depends on several factors—including the employer, work location, employment history, and occupation—many workers may be uncertain about whether they qualify under this program.

Workers employed by Fraser Health, Interior Health, Island Health, Northern Health, Vancouver Coastal Health, Providence Health Care, Provincial Health Services Authority, or First Nations Health Authority who work in one of the eligible occupations may wish to have their situation assessed.

Sia Immigration has extensive experience with BC PNP applications, including cases involving BC Health Authorities. Individuals who are unsure whether their employer, occupation, or work location qualifies are encouraged to seek professional guidance.
