PGP Program 2021 Canada Invite 30000 Applications

PGP Program 2021 Canada to Invite 30000 Applications

Canada plans to acknowledge up to 30,000 extra applications, giving more Canadians and permanent residents’ opportunity to carry their parents and grandparents to Canada. The PGP expression of interest window began in the week of 20 September 2021 and invitations will be sent in two weeks.
Now it is easy to bring your parents and grandparents to Canada as you have an opportunity to sponsor them under the newly announced Parents and Grandparents (PGP) Programs 2021. IRCC will hold a draw from the week of 20 September 2021, to invite 30,000 Canadians to submit their sponsorship applications.

Canada’s PGP Program 2021
The PGP Program 2021 is unique as it gives opportunity to your parents and grandparents to enjoy all the benefits of Canadian permanent residence including having an option to work in Canada, get full protection under Canadian law, and attain health care with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Even they can also apply to be a Canadian citizen once they meet the eligibility criteria. The announced program has an intake capacity of 30,000 applications. Approved applicants will receive Canadian Permanent Residency and eventually they will be able to apply for Canadian Citizenship.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this program, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Be a Canadian citizen and permanent resident of Canada or a registered Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
  • Have applied through IRCC’s website between 13 October 2020 (12:00 PM EDT) and 3 November 2020 (12:00 PM EST).
  • Exceed the minimum income level (need to submit the proof of income to IRCC).
  • Have to submit notices of assessment (for the minimum income requirement) issued by the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA).

Furthermore, you should be ready to support the sponsored person financially for 20 years. Also, you should have to repay for all social benefits availed by the sponsored person for a period of 20 years. If you are a Quebec resident, an additional “undertaking” must be signed.

How You Can Apply
The application process for the PGP is a bit different for 2021. Invitations are selected randomly via a draw from the pending list of potential sponsors who have submitted applications in 2020. If you are invited to apply to be a sponsor to your parents and grandparents, again you will have two options:
1.    You must apply to become a sponsor.
2.    Your parents or grandparents must apply for permanent residence.

You need to submit both the sponsorship and the permanent residence applications together online at the same time. The status of your application will be cleared within 2 months with deadline detail on your invitation.  Your invitation will be generated online on the mail that you have provided to the department during the time of application submission. This year, applications will be accepted only via online mode.  This is another chance for those who are not drawn during the PGP window 2020 closed on 3 November.
