Post Graduation Work Permit PGWP Vital Field Update July 2025

What You Need to Know:
Effective June 25, 2025, IRCC revised PGWP eligibility based on Express Entry labour priorities:

  • 119 fields added — Focus on healthcare, skilled trades, education
  • 178 fields removed — Especially from non-degree programs
  • 920 programs now eligible

July 4, 2025 Update: Some previously removed fields are temporarily reinstated.
If you applied for a study permit between June 25 and July 4, your program still qualifies—until the next update in early 2026.

Who’s Affected?

  • Non-degree program students who applied on or after Nov 1, 2024
  • If you applied before June 25 or between June 25–July 4, you're still eligible
  • Degree program students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD) — Not affected

Why This Matters:
Aligns your studies with Canada’s job market needs — like nursing, early childhood education, and trades — boosting PR opportunities via Express Entry.
